Sarah Mary Chadwick aus Melbourne hat diese Woche ihre neue Single „Looked Just Like Jesus“ veröffentlicht. Sie stammt von ihrem neuen Album „Messages To God“, das am 15. September via Kill Rock Stars erscheint.
„Messages To God“ ist bereits das achte Album der in Neuseeland geborenen Künstlerin. Es wurde vom preisgekrönten Produzenten Tony Espie (The Avalanches) produziert.
„Looked Just Like Jesus“ ist behutsam strukturiert, der getragene Gesang wird immer wieder von aufflackernden Synthies begleitet. Der Text ist sehr persönlich und etwas augenzwinkernd vorgetragen.
Sarah Mary Chadwick erklärt zu dem Song: „My Mother thought that my first boyfriend looked like an artist’s rendition of Jesus that she had hanging on her classroom wall at the Catholic school she taught at. Jesus on the wall had blue eyes and sandy coloured collar length floaty hair, and golden skin. I like to indulge in an idea of God. It gives a name to a feeling of being in love with how beautiful the world is.“
