Video Music Awards 2016 – Beyoncé, Beyoncé und Beyoncé

Bei den VMAs gibt es jedes Jahr viel Diskussionsstoff. Die Künstler, die eine Auszeichnung verdient hätten, gehen meistens leer aus, und andere bekommen den kleinen silbernen Astronauten zu Unrecht. In diesem Jahr könnte es eine Rache à la bonheur geben.

Im Jahr 2009 war das Video “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)” von Beyoncé in fast allen Kategorien nominiert und galt als haushoher Favorit. Doch dann kam die Sternstunde für Taylor Swift und Kanye West.

Während Swift, die mit “You Belong with Me” das beste weibliche Video für sich verbuchen konnte, ihren Preis annahm und ihre Dankesrede hielt, sprang Kanye West auf die Bühne, unterbrach sie und entriss ihr das Mikrofon. Dann sagte er, Beyoncé hätte eines der besten Videos aller Zeiten gemacht. Swift war schockiert. West wurde für seinen Ausfall vom Publikum ausgebuht. Trotz der spontanen Aktion konnte Beyoncé lächeln. Sie gewann die wichtigste Kategorie “Video Of The Year”.

Dieses Jahr wird das nicht passieren, denn Taylor Swift ist nicht nominiert! Das erste Mal seit Jahren wird der Star leer ausgehen. Dafür ist Beyoncé mit vier verschiedenen Videos dabei und führt die Liste mit elf Nominierungen an. Gleich danach kommt Adele mit “Hello”, das in sieben Kategorien vertreten ist.

Auch Drake, der mit “Hotline Bling” die Internetkuriosität des Jahres schuf, ist stark vertreten. Auch im Independent / Alternative-Sektor mischen einige mit. So sind Florence And The Machine zweimal vertreten und auch twenty one pilots, Fall Out Boy, Coldplay (Indie/Alternative??) und Tame Impala sind nominiert.

Die VMAs werden am 28. August im Madison Square Garden in New York vergeben. Die kompletten Nominierungen findet ihr hier:
